Lorain County Board of Commissioners
Region 5
Elyria, OH
Description of Grantee:

Lorain County Sherriff’s Office is being recognized for their completion of the Ohio Collaborative recertification process through the Office of Criminal Justice Services.

This Recertification of the Ohio Collaborative standards are the first of their kind in Ohio and were developed and established by the Ohio Collaborative Community-Police Advisory Board as part of the state’s efforts to strengthen community and police relations.

In Ohio with the partnership of Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association and Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police there are over 455 agencies employing over 27,000 officers (representing over 85 percent of all law enforcement officers in Ohio, including most of Ohio’s metropolitan areas) that are certified, and 23 that are in the process of becoming certified by meeting standards for the use of force, including deadly force, and agency recruitment and hiring.

We are honored to have our Lorain County Sheriff’s Office and Deputies protect our citizens and all Law Enforcement be trained for the well-being of our communities.
