Professional Learning Communities (PLC) - Cycle 2
HMTRI, in cooperative agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, is currently accepting registrations for PLC #2. PLCs are composed of Brownfields stakeholders interested in developing programs to train underemployed and unemployed residents for environmental jobs created by Brownfields economic redevelopment in their communities. There is no charge to become a PLC member.
PLC members meet through a series of ten, 30-minute telephone conferences to discuss successful approaches to developing sustainable Brownfields Job Training Programs. The telephone conferences are informal and will be held every other Wednesday beginning April 14th from 2:00 - 2:30 p.m. EDT. Email and Web discussions will enhance the telephone conferences.
General topic areas will include: • Brownfields Job Development and Training • Funding Sources • Working Within the Community • Program Scope and Definition • Program Startup • Student Recruitment and Assessment • Certifications I • Certifications II • Certifications III • Student Placement, Tracking, and Program Sustainability
Who should apply? Organizations seriously considering establishing a job training program in their Brownfields community. Communities and organizations may or may not be interested in seeking federal assistance.
